Sawyer & Hurley, Sketch Comedy

Actor-comedians Dave Sawyer and Dennis Hurley started performing together at The Tribe Theater in Boston in 2005. There, they wrote & performed Classic Film with Sawyer & Hurley — a winning act the Tribe's World's Best Variety Showdown.

10 Years

Over the years, they've honed their quirky two-man sketch comedy, which draws inspiration from pop culture and awkward situations in everyday life. Sawyer and Hurley have performed at ImprovBoston, The People's Improv Theater (NYC), The Clubhouse (LA), Stand-Up New York, and at numerous comedy festivals throughout North America including Philly Sketchfest and Montreal Sketchfest.

One of their original shows, The Complete Works of Batman (Abridged) has been a part of ImprovBoston's Geek Week Festival for many years running and was featured at Boston Comic Con in 2012.

More About Dennis Hurley

Dennis Hurley

Dennis Hurley is an actor, writer, and comedian from Hingham, MA. He began his career as a performer at Ithaca College in New York and has improvisational training from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and ImprovBoston. In addition to Sawyer and Hurley, he is also a member of the sketch troupe, Friends of Gertrude.

Dennis has performed in the lead role in the original play Diamond In The Rough at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. He has acted in such Off-Off Broadway productions as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Where’s Charlie?, Titus Andronicus, and his original comedic play, Dating Grim.

Dennis' television and film credits include: The Daily Show, iOrigins, Let Them Chirp A While, How To Win The Internet, Inventory. He has also starred in the original films including Once Again and The Albino Code, a parody of The DaVinci Code which he wrote and starred in that has been met with international acclaim, being featured on CNN, MSNBC, Inside Edition, and The Boston Globe in a review by top film critic Ty Burr.

Dave Sawyer

Dave Sawyer is a Boston area comedy actor, improviser, and professional web smarty-pants, originally from Chicago. He has performed at over 40 comedy festivals including the San Francisco Improv Festival, Chicago Improv Festival, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival (Austin), and the Seattle Festival of Improv Theater. Dave's international festival appearances include the Tokyo Impro Festival, Slapdash Festival (London), ImprovFest Ireland (Dublin), Barcelona Improv Festival, Vancouver International Improv Festival, and ImproSport Festival in Puerto Rico where he performed in spanish alongside competing acts from Mexico, South America, and Spain.

Dave is an alumni of the ImprovBoston Mainstage cast and currently performs with Bing Bang Improv. He is also an instructor in improv and sketch writing at the ImprovBoston Comedy School and has taught workshops at the Toronto Improv Festival and the Santa Cruz Improv Festival.
